Our Activities

SEDS-KU conducts a variety of activities that are aimed at promoting space science, technology, and research among students. Some of the activities that SEDS KU conducts are:

01

Projects

We conducts a variety of projects that are aimed at promoting space science, technology, and research among students.

These include CubeSat, High Altitude Ballooning, Remote Sensing, Asian Herbs in Space (AHiS) projects. CubeSat projects focus on designing, building, testing, and launching miniature satellites for space research. High Altitude Ballooning projects involve launching balloons to study the Earth’s upper atmosphere. Remote Sensing projects use satellite and aerial imagery to study the Earth’s surface and atmosphere. AHiS project aim is to study the growth and development of Asian herbs in microgravity conditions and to determine the feasibility of growing these herbs in space.

Research

“Space exploration is a force of nature unto itself that no other force in society can rival.” – Neil Armstrong

We conducts various research activities that include research on the use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for disaster management and mitigation, Cleaner and Safer rocket fuel and Satellite Image Processing. These research activities aim to find solutions to real-world problems and to promote space science, technology, and research among students.

Events

Our aim is to educate and engage the community, and provide opportunities for members to learn about recent developments in space-related fields, to interact with experts in the field, and to share their own research and ideas.

Our events includes: Monthly Space News, to share updates about recent space-related events and news; Talk shows with Space Personalities, which provide a platform for students and the general public to interact with experts in the field of space science and technology; Sky Gazing, which gives students and the public an opportunity to observe the night sky through telescopes and learn about astronomy; and Outreach events, which promotes space science and technology among the general public.

04

Workshops

An opportunity to apply the knowledge  acquired in the classroom to real-world problems and to develop skills in areas such as design, engineering, and data analysis.

SEDS Kathmandu University conducts workshops to develop students’ skills in areas such as CAD/CAM, Electronics, Programming and other relevant skills for space science and technology. These workshops provide hands-on learning experiences and help students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems.
